Shawna’s Sparkle is Melissa’s first book. As a child, Melissa sat on her father’s lap, author Larry D. Underwood, and said, “When I grow up, I’m going to be a writer and a teacher just like you!” She dabbled in writing, including publishing “Elsah: A Historic Landmark” in Springhouse Magazine, and writing a teen romance for a contest while in high school.
Melissa brings her twenty-two years of experience in special education and her love of psychology to her book, using her voice to educate, empower, and inspire children and the adults who read to them.
Melissa Morrissey lives in Sherman, Illinois, with her husband, Ted Morrissey, who is a teacher, writer, and publisher. They are the parents of five children and two rescue dogs, Einstein and Nala.
